Piet loves playing with water and luckily the weather allowed for it. For play inside, the Amsterdam warehouse has been rediscovered. Emma started to enjoy the baby 'frieze' with the black/blue/red/white colours that newborns can more easily distinguish. The siblings managed to get onto mother's knee and daddy's lap at the same time. And most days, Piet will admire Emma from up close and carefully touch her. Sammie came around to see Emma (and show off her new love).
On the occasion of grandmother Bep's birthday on 18th May, aunts Hanna and Annigje and oma Bep came over to London to see Emma and the rest of her family.
Together, we enjoyed
dinner three days in a row, while they did sightseeing during the rest of the day. The family brought loads of presents, including a child design plate with
mug,
spoon and
other cutlery for Piet.
Piet sang songs with grandma and dad and he read books with aunt An (one of his favourites: Vroom, here comes the tractor/digger/crane/etc.)" and grandma. We all had a look at the painting that grandma Bep had made for Emma. Finally, the grandmas had their grandkids on their laps.
On Sunday, we celebrated oma Bep's birthday with various presents. On Monday, Piet and Jan waved the party goodbye on St Pancras International. All returned to normal with Emma having her first bath. The rest of the time, she prefers being held, alone or with Piet, or wrapped in a sling.
