Returning to Eindhoven in September, we met up with more family. Frits and Renate came over for a visit and a walk through Brabant's countryside, while we went to Houten, where Emma met her second degree cousins Imre and Olivier and Piet played with Jorrit

At oma's place, we still enjoyed some days with good weather, which allowed maximum use of the garden with sandpit, while on gloomier days Emma was happy to sit inside in her bouncy chair and be entertained by her brother. Piet managed to pronounce Emma's name. Soon afterwards, he also started saying the word "kla", which is short for "klaar" (Dutch for "ready"), after finishing his plate or bottle. He has been saying "mama" for a long time, but still not exclusively for his mother. Emma has been able to sit propped up, for example in oma's high chair. Oma read a Richard Scarry book to Piet and gave Emma another bottle.

Our luggage posed an issue, as we had been travelling for two and a half months. After throwing out everything we could miss and carefully weighing the rest, we sent 18 kg by post to Melbourne. We brought our good old Mondeo to the wreckers, as returning it to England would have cost more than it's worth and rented a car to bring us to Schiphol airport on Tuesday 15th September. We left at 5.30 am in order to beat the traffic jams, which tend to build up early in the Netherlands, arriving at Schiphol four hours before departure and with an acceptable 90 kg of hold luggage.
