Some creative wishes
When his aunts came over from the Netherlands during his first weekend, they brought Pietje some creative wishes from an elder niece and nephew. We hope Piet will get this creative.

Pietje's first ten days
What did Pietje do during his first ten days? Well, sleeping comes in at number one, drinking at number two and the inevitable nappy-change-while-screaming number three. During the latter, he managed to wee on his head in the first few days. His parents will have to get used to that. After about five days, he started to have his waking spells, during which he looks around and moves arms, legs and face, but generally without training his voice. If you find that hard to imagine, have a look at the video.

On Sunday 10th February Pietje weighted 3925 grams, about 11% under his birth weight. Weight loss up to 10% is considered normal, and as he was heavy enough at birth, the midwife was not concerned by him losing a bit more than the norm. On Wednesday he celebrated his mother's birthday and on Thursday he provided his dad with an excuse to skip Valentine's day. On Friday he went back to the hospital for a check-up by a physio. She confirmed that he uses his left arm a bit less, but still can do anything that is expected of him. We may put him down a bit more often on his right side, to stimulate left arm movements, and on his tummy, to make him do push-ups. Gym membership is not yet required.
