On 7th August we arrived at oma Bep in Eindhoven. She still lives in the house in which Jan Willem grew up from the age of four until he went to Amsterdam for his studies. Piet immediately went for the sandpit in the - by Dutch standards - large garden. The weather was generally nice, so during the day he might also play with water in a bucket or sandpit cover, while rainy days were as much fun. Piet spent also many mornings with oma in the city farm in Nuenen, enjoying the animals, bigger sandpit and ride on toys, while he did the occasional errand with his father in his front bike seat. Emma was happy on the sidelines or with her brother in a mummy cuddle.

While staying with oma, the general idea was that any friends and family could come over to visit us in Eindhoven, as travelling around the Netherlands with two kids would have been too tiring. In this way, we saw a large number of people, including uncle Ton, who tested Piet's footballing skills, and aunt Hannie. An exception was made for our niece and cousin Elisabeth, who proudly celebrated her third birthday. We visited her in Amsterdam, where we had cake with candles, Elisabeth showed off her new dress with a little dance, Emma tested Tiem's bouncy chair and Piet enjoyed some new ride on toys. We also visited Sytske, who had a close look at Emma under Piet's supervision.
