As Sydney is a rather humid place in winter, mum bought Piet and Emma their own umbrellas. They used them to build a cubbie house. When dad gets home from work and gets changed from his work clothes into jeans, Piet and Emma join him and are allowed to jump on the bed. Emma has developped a fascination with lining up cars, something her elder brother was really fond of in July 2009, about half her age.
Apart from the Sydney rain, Sarah and Jan are also starting to feel the absence of central heating. The kids refuse to believe it is cold. On many days their parents are walking around in wooly jumpers, they take off their long-sleeved t-shirts and walk around in a single, short-sleeved t-shirt.
Aunty Bell came over from Victoria to stay with us a couple of days. After a quiet lunch with mum on Thurday, Friday was spent with mum and Emma - Piet being at pre-school. They took aunty Bell to our beach, where Emma showed her our rocks.
Manly dam
On a sunny Saturday a week later, we went to a nearby lake called Manly dam. A walking trail through thick, swampy forest around the lake is 7km. We walked the first few hunderd meters with the kids and returned to a picnic spot near the
lake. We
enjoyed
zucchini slice on the
picknick blanket or at the waterside with
our sister or
alone. Families nearby were barbecueing and we spotted a kookaburra in a tree.
